Exhibition of mini quilt "Rose"

Tomorrow will start the exhibition of miniature quilts of the Dutch Quiltersguild (Quiltersgilde) in Tilburg, the Netherlands. My quilt "Rose" will be there. It's my first show and I am very excited and happy!

The exposition is held from 1 to April 4 (tuesday till friday), 10:00 - 17:00 (friday till 16:00).
Location: Synagoge Tilburg, Willem II straat 20, 5038 BG Tilburg (near station).

Miniature quilt "Rose" can be seen in Tilburg this week!

And while you're visiting Tilburg, go and see the exhibition "Living Spaces" in the TextielMuseum, also in Tilburg. A fascinating look at a hundred years of textiles in Dutch interiors.

Worldwide Quilting Day

Today it's Worldwide Quilting Day!

Let's Celebrate!

I have no idea what that means, but I am working on my quilt, so I think that's a good thing.

About my quilt in progress: I was not happy with the painted shadows on the jawline. So yesterday I added two new pieces of fabric and today I will paint a new and lighter shadow. I'm learing by following my intuitions. Hopefully I will succeed today.

Spring is in the air!

Last weekend is was warm and sunny. The first spring-like day since the snowless winter. So I could open my balconydoors and let the summerfeeling in, while I was embroidering my quilt. So nice! I can't wait untill it's summer.

Quilt "Rose" sent for exhibition

Yesterday I've sent my art quilt "Rose" to the Dutch Quilters Guild for exhibition in Tilburg, April 1 - 4. It's an exhibition of miniature quilts.

It's my first exhibition which I attend and therefore I'm very excited. It might seem crazy, but it feels to me like giving your dear cat out to the hands of a stranger, while you go on vacation. "Oh dear, will all go well? I hope it won't get lost in the mail", that kind of thoughts. It will probably all be fine. It's my first exhibition which I attend and therefore I'm very excited.
Here is a picture of "Rose":

Portraitquilt

For some time now I've been working on a quilt that's a portrait of my grandmother. She passed away 8 years ago. She taught me all about handicrafts and sewing, so this quilt is a tribute to her. I find it very exciting to do this, it's a real challenge. I hope I will succeed. Here's a work in progress photo.
